Canada, Eh?
S.O.P.A and P.I.P.A

The majority of this website's userbase is probably aware of two bills - SOPA and PIPA, which are designed to crack down on internet piracy, but are worded so vaguely that free speech and expression come under attack. Video Game websites will become illegal, videos of copyrighted content become illegal. No more no-scope montages or Let's Plays, and websites that link to this content will be shut down. Video game journalism such as IGN will become illegal. The far-reaching consequences of these bills will affect even innocent websites, as they will be held responsible for content posted by their users, rather than the users themselves facing responsibility.

What does this mean for Xiled Gaming?

For this community to continue to offer one of the best social gaming experiences in the world, every thread will have to be combed through, every link to a "sick 360 no-scope" will have to be removed, every article written on this website will become illegal, every signature and banner with a video game character will have to be removed, or this website will cease to exist. Xiled Gaming in its current format will be destroyed.

Therefore, I ask you to spread awareness about SOPA and PIPA, to protect a free and open internet, as well as our community.

Even though this is a U.S bill I think it should be mentioned that this WILL have an international affect and could be a precursor to other countries taking a similar approach.

NZ already passed a copyright act under the premise of the Christchurch earthquake (can rush through legislations when a country is in crisis) which just demonstrates the dodgy path politicians are willing to take on such matters.
