id have to agree. the text looks good and shows that it is all on a single layer. it is also a very good choice for the image. i have to say the top is better because it better shows the rule of thirds, and draws focal much better. more of my attention is grabbed by the banner than anything else...

on the army brat image i think the c4d toward the botom of the image should be blurred a little to show more depth. it seems to sit on the same level as the focal, and blurring it by 5% might help create more depth by showing that it is closer.

Also banners are so small already. Stop spending so much effort making borders for them. The borders are taking up a lot of your working space.

This is put together well, but your symbol is taking a lot more focal than it should. Try to blend it into the background. If you need ideas I did a similar portal piece in my app.

Contrast filter the image as a whole.

Try to make the rain more noticeable. It kinda just looks like a grey blur, otherwise my problem is with that N. The way it's wrapped into those steps make it look like an M. I say don't worry about weaving the text in and out like that.

I have to agree with radio, it's tough to judge without an original. The text could use more contrast though, and I feel the boarder takes a lot away from the image.

Select the render, then invert selection. Then go select>modify>feather. After this a tab will come up I commonly feather 1-3 but have done up to 5. This will feather your selection. Then press backspace until you feel enough of the outline is faded out.

I like this more. Try to have SYN and shockwave of 2 separate levels so it's not on top of your focal.
