I'm sure everyone's story is different to one degree or another. Whether or not a person was seeking the position in the first place, it's always given after much dedication and sacrificed hours spent trying to make the clan batter as a whole. Being General isn't all "Look at me, I'm at the top woohoo! Do what I say for I haz power!" Actually, it means serving the ranks below you, making sure they have a great gaming experience even if it means you lose a little game time. Some Generals put more effort into this than others, and this is apparent in each clan's morale.

Basically, seishou, if someone is just looking for some cool letters in front of their name and a chance to say they're a "high rank" and run a clan, they tend to be disappointed once they get General. However, if someone is looking out for the good of the clan overall, putting time and effort in to make things better for their clan in particular as well as the community as a whole, then they'll make a fine General and will be promoted when possible.

My personal story: I was recruited into KoG Requiem at the end of March. I never gave a damn about rank, and I still don't. I just love playing with everyone in Requiem so I would get games going and help with recruiting and things like that. I was quickly promoted through the ranks, never asking to rank up. Now as a General I put a little more effort in so my Captains can focus on recruiting and working with their squads and the rest of the clan can focus on having fun. After all, that's the whole reason we joined clans in the first place, fun!
