I dont know guys, I have thought about the pros and cons of all of this over and over again. I still think that the good outways the bad, when it comes to a clan list though. The few bad things that come about when it comes to a clan list are basically clan hits and people squabbling over rank. However I think it makes it much, much easier to have the list in place to be able to recruit. Im one of the most hardcore dedicated XG members out there, and I dont care if everyone leaves but the council. ILL STILL BE HERE! But I think that not having clan lists, could be the downfall of things as we know it. Im sure we can adapt and overcome, but I foresee alot of people fading out of this community if it goes down like this. I know we have activity on the forums of the other games, but if you look at it, the majority of the activity is from people already in a halo 2 clan. How many fresh members do you see that were actually recruited via internet clan. Out of the fresh members, how many are actually active with the clan other than just a New Members thread post? Like 00 said we do have alot of people leaving this community because of BS that spawned from petty squabbles, but if they are wanting to leave because of these petty things, I want them to because if they stay... they are only watering down our greatness. Imagine just how many people would not be able to make the adjustment or just dont like the idea of doing a "internet clan". It seems to me that it would ease the stress of having to continually organize a structured clan, and you would have more time to actually play a game, but Im in XG because of its organization and because of all the friends ive met along the way. If I just wanted to play a game I could do that off of my friends list. I have been playing halo 2 since it came out and never enjoyed it more than when I started my journey with XG. Whatever the outcome of the whole squadlist thing, im still gonna be here, trying to make this community the best it can be. It just seems that it would be better with the list.
~Lucky~

By the way, these are just my opinions. I mean no disrespect to anyone that may disagree with them.

Yeah i Agree with you lucky. And 007 is right also, we really DONT Need them, But like what some people on the Bungie forums were saying, having a clan list over the dashbord you know? or extended list. But Really Cant complain about it because Halo 3 isnt out yet, we dont know how they this one set up. Its Bungies and Microsofts idea, if they dont want it for certain reasons, im cool with it, im a huge halo fan, im down for whatever they do. Just saying i thought having clan lists was an eaiser way to be organized you know?

I think we are missing the forest for the trees. We can continue to talk about whether or not to have clan lists but I think the real issue is being further acknowledged by bungie as the powerful group that we are. Part of the reason we can’t protest what they are doing for a clan list or extended friends list is because we don’t know. So how do we find out? I came to see Lucky Shot’s idea as more of a way to be able to have a representative XG group sit down with the people at bungie and have a discussion concerning mutually beneficial concepts. We promote their system of gaming to a very large degree. How many extra tags have people made because of XG? How many new games have people purchased to try out with their friends from XG? Lucky Shot’s idea should be used not as just a way to get a clan list, but instead as public relations wake up call to bungie.

I like this idea. I agree that a clan list makes things much easier to oragainize by clan. If bungie doesnt want to put in a clanlist for Halo 3, then microsoft definetly needs a dashboard clan list, so your clan can travel through all the games.

I will definetly be there to post on bungie.net

I agree but I have a few suggestions if they have not already been made.

Get a collective list of eveyone who agrees, and post their names rather than having each person who agrees post. Doing so would keep the list organized, editable, and all of it in eye view once they open the thread. It would also keep the idiots and morons who spam/troll the forums from posting between members. It also keeps us from relying on everyone to post their feelings, we can have the huge list on the first post.

I suggest listing specifics also, such as the size of our community, the amount of clans we have so that they can have an idea of the community we have to support and deal with and know that it would be doable, but difficult. I understand we can use the forums for communication, but that makes us totally reliable on wether or not people read the threads on a day to day basis. A larger friendslist will not do.

I love my clan! I love the XGC, but really what does it for me is my clan and the bond that we have. Not that the XGC itself isn't fantastic, and not that I am not obsessed with Halo2, but I would not be online half as much if it weren't for Nightmare and the organization of all of our XGC clans. Like Lucky said, I am a diehard XGC member and will stay that way, but I can't imagine being able to stay as easily organized as we are now. And I definitely mingle amongst the different clans, but Nightmare is a platform for me to interact with other members. Nightmare is my core, and without it I don't feel that H2 would be the same for me.

Also, I think that the 360 specific clan list could be good, but it would have to be larger than 100 members, as not everyone is going to have every game that the clan plays. I think at that point figuring out who plays what might get tedious... We would all have to run out and get different tags for different games, and maybe that is their plan, to create revenue to support clans. I know that there have been a lot of problems that have arisen because of the clans in H2, and I'm sure that bungie would save a ton of money not having to deal with them at all, but I still feel that game-specific clans are beneficial for all.

Perhaps instead of punishing those of us who enjoy clans and don't abuse them, they should look at those who abuse the priveledge and figure out ways of preventing that abuse.

I think that Maggnus is correct in getting our information together, and I think that we should have a formal request written up and approved by the Council, that could start the thread, and then individual members could post to create hits and the "hot" thread, and explain more about how they feel regarding the issue.

Exactly, but we would also need to keep our members from replying back to those who spam/troll the thread in order to keep it neat, civil on our end and from being closed. You post your feelings about the clan list, then walk away. No replies to those who leave snide or unappealing remarks towards the clan. We don't need to make arguments with people, just stateing our point.

Yes, and when/if the Council posts a site-wide announcement regarding this effort, that needs to specifically be stated. It should probably also state that this effort will be monitored, as we will all be representing the XGC community as a whole. Especially since we will be drawing a LOT of attention to the XGC community as a representation of our growing influence across the board.

The whole point of either using the forums or individually emailing their webmaster was to show our numbers by causing a slight chaos at bungie. Do we think this is the way to go?

Right Arc. I understand that we wanted the hits to draw attention and prove our point. Maggnus' and my point is that we definitely don't think that they are going to read through 10,000 posts, though, to figure out what we want, so in order to get our point across effectively, we should come up with a formal thread-starter that summarizes our thoughts, and THEN spam the thread...

That way we look professional and organized, while showing our numbers, and unity.

blndii6660, I'm glad we're on the same page because I had that exact conversation with SynisterFrogg last night. I also had the idea that if we were to email their webmaster we should have everyone create free XGC email accounts at yahoo, or hotmail, or gmail or whatever so it looks like a mass spam only from different email address.

Yeah I agree with blndii all the way. That is a perfect plan in my opinion because i believe it would be a hell of a lot easier with an in-game clan.I will be bring this to both of my clans just give me a date and time.

Just keep up the spamming on this guys. We have to let everyone know what we are planning. If you guys would like we can have a meeting this weekend to further discuss where we stand, and to get everyone on the same page.
