Recently myself, Oblivion XS and Spinz XS were all talking about new things that can be brought and incorporated into the Generals meetings on sundays to make it more interesting as well as simply bringing us leaders together on a more personal basis. In most cases we find ourselves sitting in the Gen. meeting receiving information that is being spammed through the community then proceeding to leave and carry on the rest of our nights with whatever things we have to do. What I am trying to do by spamming this to all the section leaders as well as generals of course is to get feedback from all of you on what types of things we can do to bring us together in the Generals meetings rather than having our simple Hi and bye, week to week.

A few ideas I have for this is to inform each other about things going on in our clans or exciting events that have taken place in the past few weeks, like discussing clan compete matches or tournaments that we hold withing our own clans or sections. By doing this, It could be the motivation or inspiration some of us need to get teams set up on clan compete or start tournaments within all of our sections, perhaps even having tournaments where various sections face another section the see which section has the superior teamwork within a certain game. I personally believe this will bring all of closer together as not only a community but as gamers and friends.

The second idea I have come up with is something to spread more knowledge through us leaders by perhaps having an XS or even an XD propose a topic that could directly affect us or just a topic that is bet used for debate so that all of us as leaders can give our own take on it and we can all get various opinions so that in the future if the sudject came up, we would already contain the knowledge and opinion of several leaders to allow us to best handle the matter. For example: What qualities should you look for and demand from a Lt. before promoting them to captain? By incorporating questions like this into our discussions during the Gen meeting we can all give different takes on how we would go about deciding if a Lt is truely ready to assume the role of a Cpt. I think I have rambled on enough and hopefully got my point across so Id really appreciate some feedback from all of you gen's or even higher ups who have ideas or opinions that can better all of us within the community.

Note: This was originally going to be a super PM to all XD,XS, and Generals butan XS and Gen not keeping track of their inbox or possiblity not allowing PM's to be sent to them prevented me from doing that so that is why It seems to be in more of a PM form

In theory, I think what you have presented would definately benefit us, but the likeliness of it actually happening, is hard to determine. I know that the first couple times we started the new general's meeting schedule a lot of people did sit in the party for quite a long time, discussing clan issues amongst other generals, or putting out there what we thought could benefit XG as a whole, and don't get me wrong, I think it definately aided us. However, soon after, people started dipping out as soon as they got their required information, because some generals still hold their meetings on Sunday, immediately after the general's meeting. Some do not have time to be in a party for a lengthy period of time, and definately would not benefit from the experience. And others, well, are poison to specific discussion, getting off topic, or talking about the party they went to last week.

Even though we are all generals, we all still have very different opinions about the honor code and rank stucture and do things in our clans according to our own experiences. I know at least of one occasion when we attempted to discuss an issue and it got blown way out of proportion because we as generals do not have any "pull" over the other, and we can't necessarily be expected to exercise it either. I tried my best to calm those indiviuduals down, but you know, as you were present, that it was not very easy to do.

I think we should definately discuss clan compete stuff with one another, or upcoming game nights and tournaments, but having a full-fledged debate, which is what it will become on how someone views their lieutenant and captain's positions and how and when they should rank up, could potentially hinder communication from then on.

We already have to go to leadership classes in order to "learn" the ways of handling issues and being effective leaders, and I really think that discussing them amongst ourselves in a party full of opinionated persons would either lead to a chaos we cannot control, or make people not even want to participate in discussion.

Part of the reason I posted a thread asking for contact information is for just this purpose, to contact an individual on a person to person basis and formulate a relationship so that in the future when an issue arises, I know and understand them and their ways of thinking, and will help us to alleviate the stress of the situation together. Unfortunately, only a handful of generals have even taken the time to post anything in there, which kind of saddens me. :(

I think once we actually know and understand eachother, we could have these kinds of discussions, but until then, I'm not sure that I would even stick around to participate in what I know will be a complete dominant-submissive relationship. Those who speak the loudest will be heard, even if their opinion may not be completely reflected throughout the party. People don't always want to speak up in a party of 16, even though they may have the best take on the issue of the other 15.

Anyway, I hope you get my drift.

I love you Mav! You're the bomb.

I agree with Actuashley. While my post will not be as in dept or probably as good, I think that this would be a better fit in a meeting between section leaders and their generals. I think it is a great idea, but I have noticed that even though XGC is a community of gamers over 18, not all of them mentally meet that requirement. Thats why so many get offended so quickly.

I think it would be awesome to tell the other generals, "hey we are going to play big team battle on tuesdays everyone is welcome," I think a debate will not only drive a lot of generals apart but may lose the intelligence of a debate and turn into a shouting match quickly.

I am willing to try it and I would be willing to stay in a general meeting longer if it is productive and not a bunch of fighting or as Ashley said talking about what they did last weekend. That would not be productive as far as my leadership ability towards dooms day, but we can give it a shot.

I think it is an awesome idea for the generals that I know can handle that type of things and dont get me wrong there are a lot of people in XGC that would be awesome to debate some topics with. I just not sure if the general's group as a whole is ready for that. I would be more than willing to discuss things with both of you because you have way more experience than I do as a general and whatever we discussed would probably be beneficial for me so....

hit me up sometime Mav or Actuashley

You guys are completely right with the statement you have made. I have been a Gen for a very long time and I have been constantly looking for more ways to go that extra mile and come up with new ways or methods of increasing what I do on a weekly basis as a General. I'm not attempting all of this to make myself look higher or better by any means dont get mne wrong but I thought it may be an interesting idea to gather the opinions of several leaders so that we can all gather what we've learned from several peopel and better ourselves in the future things that we encounter, whatever they may be. Of course not everyone will think this is the greatest idea, because like you said it could lead to utter chaos, or offend some people but anyone who isnt open minded to these type of things will hopefully not subject themselves to a situation where their temper or personal veiw could cause them to act out of charatcer. I simply thought I would through this idea out since as we all know communication is the key in the community. So I may be wrong is presenting this idea since it does have its possible faults but I suppose when the next meeting rolls around maybe I'll get more feedback or atleast we can see if anything new happens with the meeting.

hey everyone, i guess im gonna add an idea here as well.

From the beginning of my XGC life i had always been interested in the higher-ups. the stories and knowledge of these people intrigued me. so what i was thinking of was setting up a time and place for higher ups, whether it be an XS, XD, or whatever, to game with the ranks of individual clans. this would especially be beneficial to new members to show them that no matter how high up in the clan you are these higher ups still care about the "little guy".

Even though i've been in XGC a year i still have this feeling, a couple days ago i had the privilege to play a couple games with a council member, and on the inside i was jumping with joy.

Now that i look back on this post i realize this might not be the place for it, but as generals this idea can be brought to the higher ups as a way to better the community as a whole. You never know what impact one game with a division leader can have on a lower rank, it could be the spark needed to get them really engaged in XGC

I have read all of your posts here, and I agree totally new information is better then old and I hate drama. I think Legendkilla that was a great post, I know how u feel. It was pretty cool to talk to our new DL Reslient, hes a down to earth guy and im glad he got to meet some of my clan. I m glad that he took the time and effort to hold the meeting, in the last year that has never happened, so PROPS to Reslient for that. I just thought i d throw in somethin here for u guys and girls to think about for the fun of it, I have started a contest for NEW BLOOD I wont go into detail here, march madness contess ....if u have time u may want to check it out. I have had great response to it, I cant wait to see what the guys come up with to win the prizes, it has gotten nearly all of them communicating with me and each other, since I havent seen a few of them since h2. Its a good feeling when u have a clan thats working together instead of trying to tear each other apart:).

Precisely and btw Anette if you follow Rez he will always take care of you. He was my XS back in the day and taught me alot in the community even though he may not have realized it haha. BUt these were juts simply ideas I was interested to express and get feedback on. Unforutantly it tends to be a very touchy subject that people often dont want to get involved with because it is in fact risky.

I enjoy a good debate or just to throw around ideas so if any of u want to talk without starting an arguing match hit me up. Really Im around alot so let me know. For me Preacher has been an awsome role model If leading by example refers to anyone he is a ROCK, and a wealth of information!

Maybe the benifits will out weigh the RISKS!

I agree Mav, this is definitely something we should work on. We have so much to gain from it and really not that much to lose. If somebody starts a pointless fight in a meeting hopefully his/her peers would have the sense to stop them when they go to far.

I also agree with you Legend. I remember when I first joined XGC I played with a division leader and I was like, "Wow I can't wait till I've been in XGC for as long as him and get to put cool letters after my name." I think it was Rezlient actually.

I'm open to any discussions here on the forums or on Xbox live. Just let me know.

It gets easier, trust me. Once you have trained your captains to where you trust them, you don't have to sit in the room with them and listen to them recruit or train people. There is plenty of time to game, once you get your "ducks in a row."

The forum is called bettering ourselves as leaders.
OK I take each piece of information that all of you have given to me and try to use it, some more then others, I know that not just the generals meetings but clan meetings seem to be the same thing each week I have been to a few now, not to much changes except for the updates or promotions but maybe we are also going to the meetings to see if anyone has some new ideas, and see friends that we dont get to talk to much during the week because they are busy with thier clan, I know that there are a couple GENERALs including DC TURK that really would like to get a generals night going you cant just say thats cool count me in you should actually try to make it. I understand if something comes up, work(which i do work nights i understand) etc. but it s just the fact u showed up,also I am noticing that some of the Generals meetings are including the same people....not sure if this is a click or not i guess i havent been a general that long but maybe the generals meetings with 16 people should spread out ,and party up with the ones that have only 5??? less people= less caos?
I dont know like i said u can take my input and throw it away or u can try something new, it s up to u.
