If you're looking to connect the Windows Media to your xbox, start off on your xbox, then you'll receive step-by-step instructions from your xbox on where to go and what to do. You'll also get a code at one point that you'll have to enter into Windows Media. It's been a while since I've done it, but it shouldn't be any different.

Please detail, are you trying to use media from your 360 via your xbox or are you trying to eliminate the router situation by linking you live with the laptop? If you want to use the media, the people have just told you about windows media, you can also use zune, I was able to do it with my pc but I forgot how to do it lol.
