WHY DO PEOPLE USE THE M16?

I found this thread late but I am going to add my two cents. I am a 10th prestige with 20 some days played and I never used the M16 til I hit my 10th prestige, but now I use it on every map except shipment. I just enjoy it more then anything else and half the time I am running in the room shooting from the hip and getting my kills. What bust my balls more then anything is deep impact, mainly because most guns in the game no matter what real life ammo you have for them could not go through what they do in the game. On a side note hylander were/ are you military because I have never heard anyone say WTF over outside outside the military lol
yea i just put steady aim on mine and fire from the hip when im inside of a building. And i thank that the only gun in that could shoot through most of the stuff that in the game is the .50 or the .50 turret but to have a 9mm MP5 shoot through a brick wall is a little unrealistic or even a scorpian for that matter
The turrets in the game aren't .50 caliber. They're .223 or 5.56x45mm(the M-16 round). The turret is an M-249 S.A.W. You just have to look at the shape.

bipod only makes it more accurate. The turret version kills with 1 bullet. the 1 u get kills with like 6 shots. they both use the same bullet and they are the same gun its just that ones mounted and the other isn't.
what would really be cool is if the removed all those emplace weapons, and use your weapons own bipod to be some tempoary emplacement.that way it stops noobs from being on there with infinate ammo
That is another thing that gets me lots of people refer to the turret as a 50 Cal. also the terminal volocity ie. the power between the m16 with a 20 inch barrel and the saw with a 16 inch barrel are comparable around 2700 Fp s if I am not mistaken. While the extra 4 inches the M16 has does lend itself to better accuracy neither of these can punch holes in halls and have the killing power as they do in the game. None of this really matters I thought I would share
That is an interesting pick up you did there.
I was Army. Got out pre Desert Storm. I was a 31N. Tactical Circuit Controller. Funny thing, had I looked one line down in the recruiting book it said Circuit Controller. One word can make a huge difference in your life when it is TACTICAL and you are in the Army.
Playing out in the woods/swamps every two weeks was always a fun thing. I did most of my time at the hell of the earth - Ft Polk, Louisiana. I had stints at Ft Campbell, KY where I did basic and the Air Assualt training and Ft Gordon, GA for AIT. That was truly a party place!!
Heck yeah it is a term I have heard many times over the years and one I have come to use. But I myself was never military. I have back problems that kept me out.
our military does use this platform when in urban combat where the long short is not needed. most subsonic ammo loses their kill ability at around 750 yards and the moa (minutes of angle) drops so much after150 to 200 yards that the round becomes unpredictable.
all that aside you can't use subsonic ammo in a assault rifle as you all see in the game. the force from the bullet leaving the barrel generally does no have enough power to cycle a new round. so all the AK's M16's and so forth in the game that are suppressed would jam after the first round. my point is in real life by the size of the maps in COD4 a sniper suppressed is more believable then an assault rifle suppressed

the age old question i see well for those that hate it i gues syou will never really understand why people use it...i mean unless you have actually fired it(like myself and the other military members in XG) you will not truely imbrass the awesomeness of the M-16 i mean its a bad *** piece of weaponry...though the military is goin gto the M-4...M-16 is the heat so get use to it or jsut break your COD 4 disk
docs got a point. you cant judge a weapon from any game until you fire one. i used a scaled down sa80, and although its accurate, its prone to jamming
