lets see them photos or hear them details about any exotic or cool pets some of us members have.

ive got a sulcata tortoise named toby... he will grow to about 24 inches in diameter. hes about 3 years old right now but not a baby anymore.

i also have a diamondback terrapin. which is a rare exotic turtle that cost around $150 and are hard to find. Hes or she is barely 1 years old. to young for me to tell if its male or female.

heres a pic of toby

Toby is a tortoise by the way :D

and will be grazing on lots of grass and weeds in the yard this summer. hes basically going to help me tons with the yard work. seeing that he will eat about 20 pounds of grass hay leaves and weeds if he could. i had a baby sulcata tortoise about 4 months old but he died. devoloped a very soft shell from not basking. :( he wouldnt bask no matter how hard i tried to get him to. he always slept under his log and barely got any uva/uvb light. i could of removed the log but then it could of overheated him. if you plan on buying any turtles or torts in the future. stay away from buying babies. theres always a 50/50% chance they wont survive. ive took in very sick turtles that grown up and still alive and ive taken in very health strong turtles that later develope diseases. its always best to buy them when there older. There alot more hardy and can usually survive through almost anything.

The difference between tortoises and turtles which i also have. Turtles swim in water
(fresh & salt) and come up for air every now and then. they can survive without water for possibly a day or two but is unhealthy. Tortoises on the other hand dont swim at all. Most tortoises dont even drink water. Due to a certain bacteria that lives in there intestines that helps fight other bacteria if they were to consume to much water it would then wash out the bacteria in there system that they need. resulting in them dieing :( but some tortoises like my russian not the sulcata. need a nice bowl of water they can climb into to drink water and coo off in when the lamps get them to hot.

for more information about turtles tortoises prices and stuff. go to www.theturtlesource.com they are an awesome website and carry almost every type of turtles and tortoises from rare to exotic and general pet turtles and torts.
