INACTIVITY

Remember there is only 2 ways to remove someone from XGC. Either they choose to leave and remove themselves, or they violate the honor code. If they do not do one of these 2 things, you have no right to boot them. I know people who have gone inactive for 2 weeks or 2 months. I had a member that was active over the summer, played a lot, went to college in the fall and didn't show up again until December, got right back into the swing of things and was a solid member.

As far as symbols go, no where in the honor code does it state a person has to have a certain symbol. The only requirements for symbols are that recruits have a solid color for their symbol so that it is easily distinguished as a recruit. Generals have adopted the Skull King as our symbol, but there is no written rule saying you HAVE to do that. Division and Section leaders have sent out messages in regards to anyone booting a member for having the wrong symbol will be banned from the community. Remember it is just a game. And outside of Halo, there are no symbols.

Well I don't know in any other XGC clans but the people in my clan below like LT haven't signed up on the forums. Some people are good in our clan at signing up the forums below this rank but isn't it a rule if a recruit doesn't sign up on the forums then they can be booted because that is breaking the honor code. My general could have booted like all the inactive people(and some even active) from the clan. I think that people who have lower roles in the clan don't think they are important enough to post on the forums, even though without recruits, privates and seargents there wouldn't be an XG So what do I do with the people who havent signed up on the forums? Could my General boot them because they broke the honor code?

P.S I wasn't on the computer for two days and I come on and see this thread with so many views and posts. I think it is great that we share opinions with each other. I can't wait until I get General so I can be more involved with stuff like this.

Thanks Guys

yeah i know what u guys are talking about, im in xiledgaming one of the oldest clans and we even have old KSI overlord tag! so as far as that goes try to talk to them if they get on and if not then try to make sure that when ur recruiting that you let them know that if ur gonna be inactive in the future for some reason try to let the leaders know and thats why its important to get ur members to register on these forums that way we can keep in contact w/ them. for example right now my internet is down and has been down for about 2 weeks! so if u were to be in my clan u might start to think, "hey were's pred?" but since i can get on the comp at the university i can keep in contact w/ my clan through here by talking to my captians and so on. . . so thats just what i think/feel about this topic!

What if we have a full clan and there are people who havent even been on in a couple of months and for all we know what if their account has expired whatdo we do then just leave them and send any recruits to other clans what do you suggest Aldier?

If you have a full clan, then refer to the posts by the Section Leaders in this thread. Also, if your clan is full, then there is the potential for the clan to split, but that is again under the control of your section leader. There is more to splitting than just having a full clan. If your clan splits, then that would free up spots in the clan so you don't have to boot people.

If there account has expired, then someone should have been in contact with them while they were members, OR they should have registered on the forums so you can potentially contact them by either posting on the forums, sending them a PM on the forums, or sending them an EMAIL based on the one they used to register for the forums.

I have seen captains and generals help other clans by sending recruits to them, but that is their choice to do.

Well, no recruit should be promoted to private until they have registered on the website so that should not even be an issue. Removing a recruit from your clan is not a problem, that is under the discression of the general of the clan. If they have not registered, then they should NOT be a member. If they still have not registered by now, then just keep harping on it over and over until they do. Let them know what is here. Let them know what they are MISSING from your clan section of the forums. If they still don't care, then find another way to motivate them to if nothing else, sign onto the forums and post a message saying "Hi, I am ____". for you. I tell every recruit I bring in that after I send them the clan invite, that they need to register and even if you just post a couple words, say hi to the guys in OUR clan in OUR forum so that they can get to know you a little.

Anyone who is serious about joining XGC will find the time to come to our website and register.

you think XGC forum activity is bad. you should see KOG. I get on everyday. I'm only a lieutenant but my general only plays rainbow six(and he just got promoted to general), ive only seen 2 captains on this month and that has only been 6 times. Our recruits are leaving because nobody is ever online. And most of the members end up joining 1 custom game and doing glitches or something. I actually want to get squads together and have clan matches, clan practices. but i cant cause nobody is even on the forum. im in KINGS OF GAMING. my general posted 150 times saying "skldhglkjfg" "fjahgl;ajkhgfjl" "hfgbljksfg" . im sick of it. i actually want it to be organized.

In my clan we dont have a problem with forum activity im from xgc apocalyp3 and we are the most active xgc clan in the forums it all goes back to the getting quality recruits and any members you get should be registering on the forums i would check to make sure they are all registered anyway as they should be before they are raised from recruit status.

o and by the way happy b-day blndii. CHEA!!!

Thanks Bunite :D

On the subject of activity on the forums - I think that Buffnutz, Resilient and I pretty much brought people to the Nightmare forums. If you look at the older posts, it was pretty much just him and I going back and forth, with interjections here and there from Resilient and a couple of other people. We would post interesting Halo info, jokes, games, etc., and then talk about it in front of everyone, hounding them to get on the site. We brought Nightmare's forums from the middle of the pack to one of the most active in the list (I think that we are about fourth in posts). Now we have about half the active Nighmare members posting in them on a daily basis. You have to make them interesting, and you have to continue mentioning it, asking them to sign up, and talk about how much FUN you are having.

It has been mentioned again and again - the Generals, Captains, and Lieutenants can make their activity in their clans and forums work. It is just a matter of how much effort that they put in. If you are having trouble with getting content that is interesting in to your forums because you are the only one, ask for help. Your Section Leader would be more than happy to give you a hand. Heck, if anyone wants me to post in their forums with them to get them jump-started, I am more than happy to give another General (or anyone who wants to see their forums pick up) a hand. It would also give me the opportunity to meet new XG members. :D

Intrepid is doin pretty well as far as forums go, but you are more than welcome to come post in our section blndii.

As far as forum activity overall goes, blndii is totally right, the name of the game is making people want to go to the forums, not just telling them they should. I had another idea though, would it be possible to add a streaming "chat" area to the site. So many times i've been online and seen someone else on that i'd like to talk to but posting back and forth in forums is really slow. If we could actually chat, I think that would be one of the last steps in moving XG from the console onto the computer. Ideas?

Dude - a chat feature would be great, but for instance, right now I am on AIM right now with someone, which I think functions just fine. We have our conversations, or when we want to show each other a thread we link each other through AIM, and then when there is something worthy of sharing with the community, we post on the forums.

I also know that a lot of websites, their chat feature isn't really that great. I personally think that right now, we've got great third-party freeware, so I don't see a reason why we would need to look at investing more of 007's money into a chat feature... lol

Very true, the investment might not be worth the return right now, but there has been a lot of talk about moving away from the pregame lobby of halo2 and onto the website so it is more community based. The only thing the website lacks that the console has is direct communication, which is why I suggested a chat.

Gotcha. Well, there is the ability to create chat rooms in AIM - when XBL went down a couple of months ago I got a bunch of people in to a chat room that were signed into XBL and we just sat around in the AIM chat room checking out the forums and XBox.com, and Bungie.net sharing news and other fun stuff like montages that we found on YouTube, etc.

The advantage of the pregame lobby in Halo2 is that you don't have to type everything out. I am sure that there has to be some sort of software to take care of that - I haven't really used it, but I know of a program called Skype, which kind of does voice chat. And AIM has a voice chat feature, too, doesn't it? I know that Yahoo you can do voice chat chat rooms...

Thinking out loud I guess...

See how we have to do this brainstorming on the forums? and I'm at work so I can't really get on AIM, but I could chat here and there on a website. I hope you guys are happy that I get paid to post in these forums all day.

My boss pops up over my shoulder way toooo often for aim, plus knowing my friends I'd have some ridiculously inappropriate message pop up in the middle of something important.

On another note, while there are some issues with inactivity both on the website and in halo2 clans, if you look at the aggregate picture, XG is very active which is the point. We could always be more active, or more involved, but remember it is just a game.

ahaaa - dude, I've had to yell at a couple of my friends before for sending me inappropriate comments via AIM while they KNOW that I'm at work. My boss has been standing at my desk and all of the sudden a window pops up with some random-*** comment... !

We are very active, and I'm totally addicted, and as long as I can hang out with other cool people who are as addicted as I am, I am happy!

I can agree with some of the previous comments that were made from seeing it happen within our own clan. Some time ago when we had an inactive General the Captains took it upon themselves as recommended by some of the Council Members to take action on our own clan as far as promotions, enforcement of the symbol structures and so on. Well some people at the time felt that there were to many inactive members. Upon sending messages out and giving them time they were booted. This caused more hurt than help.

It is recommended if you are going to be at leave for more than a week to send a message to your General. I understand that emergencies happen, we do occasionally have lives outside of XG. This way at least someone is aware that they will be gone.

As far as tags and symbols go the only restriction that XG has laid out for this is spelled out in section V and VII of our Honor Code.

V- New members will not be allowed to change their gamer tag until receiving approval from a section leader.

VII- All members must read and accept this Honor Code. Violation of the Honor Code will earn the Gamer a warning; two warnings and you will be banned from the community.

Defining new members would be a recruit, after that point it is up to the Generals and Captains in the clan to allow or put up that individual for a promotion. We are a clan that is based upon participation. If participation is not shown, I’ll invite them to games when they are online and try to get them back into the XG spirit of having fun as a clan!
