since the development of the online gaming community, most games produced now are driven for online gameplay (multiplayer vs. battles) the problem with most games is that the gamers tend to get bored with a campaing mode when they know there is an online multiplayer mode, with Halo3 they integrated the campaign into online, but it wasn't the driving force behind the game. Halo 2 was one of the luanch games for xbox live so Bungie studios recognized right away that the online community would greatly outperform the campaign, they spent more time developing the multiplayer wich in tern made for a short easy campaign mode, as with most games that com out now. COD4 made their campaign more desireable to those wanting to get the gammerscore for achievments since all the achievements are campaign based and not online. COD4 is still realativley easy on campaign and not very long becuase more emphasis was put on the online game. I think that GTA4 will most likely be the same way becuase it has xbox live multiplayer also. Unfortunatly the days of spending 100's of hours playing through final fantasy type games to get 100% compplete is pretty much over, allthough there are still some games like it out there.
