I respect that, and every group is different. It’s great your clan was comfortable speaking up. Some people just aren’t as communicative as others, which is why it’s important to make members feel comfortable reaching out through the chain of command, while also knowing there’s an open-door...

As someone who was formerly in a higher leadership role, there is an open-door policy if you ever need to talk to someone in leadership. You’re also right that leaders should be checking in with their members regularly. Good communication goes both ways, and that’s how concerns get addressed.
