That'd be interesting, if that were the case, it would probably be smart to include a little run-down on what smudging is in the theme thread for those who don't know. Does that seem like a good way to do something like that?

Set stocks would be nice. It would eliminate the fact that some people vote for what they know. Although if the stock is LQ then you wouldn't get many entries so the stock needs to be good and HQ.
A text SOTW might be nice, like having text as the focal. (as shown below)

well we've had an abstract one already. I think what he means by "text" sig, is like the happy feeling gfx banner and stuff like that
