Regarding XGG and the women of this community. Please read the whole document.
I am contacting the council on this matter rather than division leaders as I believe you will handle this matter more appropriately. Being the founders of this community I understand and acknowledge that you have built this community into the functional one we have today.
Not all I say is taken seriously within this community due to me being a fairly recent member, so I will highlight my previous experience. I was once in a small clan called SwatzZ; here I was a commander and in charge of clan affairs. I handled creating guides, setting up matches and keeping relations with other clans under control. I have brought this experience with me to XG where I have created guides for my clan [The most recent can be found in our New Dynasty forums]. I left SwatzZ due to having a disagreement with the leader [lets just say, after we reached his goal for number of members, he lost sight of what is actually important in maintaining a sustainable community]. I don’t think the clan exists now, as I cannot find any remnants anywhere; any way, I prefer not to grieve over the past.
As for the issue of XGG: When I was recruited, I was told XG had a section just for the ladies, great I thought, just what I was looking for. I signed up on the website and found XGG in the state it is today. I was recruited into a dysfunctional clan, just what I was trying to leave behind me in the past. I was annoyed that XGG was used as a selling point when I was recruited, but it soon became clear that the member that recruited me didn’t even know the state it was in. With this out in the open, I soon found my place in KoG New Dynasty, thanks to the help of many members. Ive recently re-gained my interest in XGG, and have taken place in some of the discussions that have amounted over in XGG’s forums. It has become clear to me that XGG needs a complete revamp, something of which at my level I am not prepared to do. I don’t want to bite off something I can’t chew and for it to come crashing down once again. I understand that it was a lack of leadership and commitment that lead to XGG’s demise, so I considered those factors and here is my new proposition:
‘KoG/SYN/XGC Fusion’
We have a clan within each of the major sections [KoG, SYN and XGC] that is designed just for the ladies. The clan remains for both males and females, but there are an increased number of females present [I will go over why I think this is appropriate later in my text*]. The clan will follow the same rules as the rest of the division, they will not be too much different from the rest of the clan but they will offer what most females want when searching for a clan, which is freedom from sexism but also knowing that the males present will not hint at there sex at all [It is clear that sexism is against the rules, and I have never encountered as case of it - but my clan members still do things which I and many other ladies consider inappropriate]. The guys which are put in this clan will have to be the more serious of the bunch and may require some special training, but this would be easily achieved.
*Why have both males and females? The new movement with women and gaming is that we no longer want to be seen as ‘girl gamers’, we want to be seen as just gamers. Secluding us within a girl’s only clan is not wanted anymore. Well then you may ask why we need these new specialist clans?- the answer is that we are still cautious about the sexism and silly questions that may be asked- females gaming is becoming more present in the gaming industry- but we are still not accepted in full.
The other reason to have males is that they would stop what happened in XGG from happening- most of the girls went inactive within a short time span, leaving no hope for the community. I’m not saying that males do not have the same social life outside of gaming- but when their lives do come calling they tend to make time for both gaming and their social lives, whereas us females will tend to stay away until we know all is clear and figured out. This means that if a large portion of the females do become inactive within a short time, the males will be there to sustain the clan while they are gone, so when the ladies are ready to come back they will have a functional clan to arrive back to.
Creating these clans will mean that XGG can still be present in the community, so if someone does want to step up to the challenge the opportunity is there. I would be happy to set up a trial version of one of these clans in the KoG division, but only if I can still remain in my current clan [New Dynasty is my home, so this is a top priority]. I know its not usually allowed to be in two clans but I believe I can handle it until I find someone suitable for the generals position, I would need help recruiting both males and females- but I can handle training men for the clan [which I think there would be a lot of interest for, in fact I have some members in mind who would be suitable].
Like I said before, the honor code would be the same as for that division, but I think one change in the rank structure may be appropriate- and that is the inclusion of a second general [or sub-general]. That way there can be one male and one female leader, while this isn’t completely needed, I think it would work well in this instance.
This is just an idea I ‘concocted’ while reading and participating in the XGG discussion, and if it is declined I will just re-consider and create another plan of action.
I’m sorry for writing the equivalent of a novel just on this issue, but I believe it is time that action is taken to create a good home for the ladies of XG.
Thank you for reading,
KoG P01SON IVY.
EDIT: I have spoken to my general. KoG Caedo, and have permission to use KoG New Dynasty as a trial clan for this, if you, the council, feel that creating a new clan for this is not appropriate. I am happy with this method also [I understand with using KoG New Dynasty as a trial that the proposed changes to rank structure will be scrapped]
