1. 3 guys go to a hotel. They walk up to the desk and the lady at the desk says, "The room will cost $30." So the 3 guys all chip in $10 to pay and then they go up to the room. The lady found out that the room only cost $25 so she got the bell hop to take the extra $5 to the guys in the room. When the bell hop got there he told them the room was $27 and he gave them each $1 dollar back which made it that they only payed $9 and the bell hop kept the extra $2. Now if they payed $27 and the Bell hop kept $2 what happened to the other dollar? $27+$2=$29? Give me your answers.

That's an interesting teaser. Ok, the lady at the front desk still has $25 of the 3 guys money and the bell hop gives them each a dollar making the total amount of money being circulated around $28. The bell hop keeps $2 that equals $30. The bellhop takes the $2 back to lady at the desk making the total there $27 while, the three friends have $1 each.

Yes, you're right the bell hop does keep $2 so the total between his $2 and the desk lady's $25 is $27. Add the $3 the bell hop gave to the friends and you get $30 dollars. So, they paid $25 dollars to the lady at the desk and $2 to the bell hop since he didn't return the money; they each have $1 a piece. With this teaser it looks like they try to draw your attention away from the fact the desk lady has $25. Is the dollar that was said to be lost at the front desk with the lady?

awesome! Actually it is the equation at the end. you want to subtract the $2 fom the $27 not add it. The $2 came from the $27. Congrats on figuring it out. How about the other one, do you know what it is?

Nothing happened to the other dollar.

$25 - hotel fee
$1 - person 1
$1 - person 2
$1 - person 3
$2 - bellhop

Total = $30

It's all in the wording of the question that makes it confusing.

A man lives on the 15 floor of an apartment building. Everyday he get in the elevator and goes down to the 1st floor then goes to work. On days that it is not raining he comes home and gets in the elevator and goes to the 10th floor then walks the stairs the rest of the way. But when it is raining he gets in the elevator and goes all the way up. WHY!?!?
