No outside chat or parties during class
If you can not follow along on your computer, then you will need to follow up on your own after the class

INTRO = This class was developed to give you some important information which will help you in and out of XG, as well as teach you some things you need to know for being a part of the leadership in the community. This class does not mean you are getting a promotion but it does help you to better prepare for when a promotion does come. This is something I choose to do because I enjoy improving our community and individuals and watching them both become successful. In the end improving our community is the main goal.

Ask one of the captains to read the captains responsibility

Captains Responsibilities:
Know, understand, and be able to teach all the responsibilities of the lower ranks.
* If you know how to be a good member, that's great, now can you teach the people under you in your squad to be great members? What are some outcomes to having great members and what are some outcomes of not having members that know the responsibilities of their rank?

Act in a professional manner at all times. Ensure members are following the Honor Code and have registered atwww.XILEDGAMING.com.

*Acting professional, what's that mean to you?
Acting professional in XG an on line gaming community refers to taking care of your members best interest, sometimes that means handling issues, acting as the representative of the members in your squad and showing up to important clan meetings, events, on time.

Be active online in the game and on the forums.
* Being active or showing* participation on your clans forums means to post and update important information, add to ongoing threads and follow the forum rules and guidelines, reporting posts helps moderators and admins.* Being active in game, is as easy as inviting your squad members, and clan members to games you enjoy, rallying your group to do better then you can do as individuals.

Show dedication and commitment while assisting his/her General run a successful clan.

* Being present (listing, giving opinions, and voting) while your clans leadership is making decisions such as but not limited to, promotion, warning members for honor code violations, and running meetings, events, and practices.

Run weekly meetings and squad practices as well as having a “Game Night” for your squad.

Ensure members are in a squad with people that play the same game(s), if not transfer them to another Captain’s squad or possibly another clan.

* "No member left behind", our members need to be the leadership focus. When a member starts to spend more time away from the squad then with it on a multi-player game that no other members in a squad or clan is playing on, as a leader we should take the members best interest in consideration and look for a better fit for them, and talk to the member about the possibility of moving to the better fit.

]Evaluate and vote on new recruits. Register on*www.clancompete.com, make challenges, and play in squad/clan matches.

* Voting on recruits is one of the most important privileges a captain has, do not take this lightly as voting against recruits that don't fit a clan is as important as voting for the recruits that do fit in.

Train your Lieutenant as your replacement.
*Training your LT to become a replacement for you and carry on as a captain after you is the most important responsibility of a captain passing down all the tricks and knowledge of the rank and showing them how to manage a squad, delegate responsibilities, deal with issues, as well as what to look for in a recruit, can be daunting.* Making great choices and owning not only the results but learning from the not so great mistakes and guiding your LT threw the trials and tribulations of there rank while encouraging them to become ready to become the leader of there own squad, takes effort on both sides so captains choose your LT wisely.

Follow the chain of command and take issues to your General not higher ranks.
* Work closely with your General on any issues you are having with your squad, keeping an open line of communication with your General insures that your squad will have the best chances to succeed as your General has been where you are and is your guide to becoming the best you can be.

Post squad list in the clan’s forum using one the squad list prefixes with a color that represents the squad by the 1st and the 15th of the month. Ensure no member is left behind!

* Recruiting in the game you play is an XG best practice. Don't forget you are looking for like minded gamers, these are people just like you and I were before we became members, you are building not only your squad but your friends list.* Make sure we are bringing in recruits we can be proud of in your squad.

*
Building a Squad
As the captain of a Squad, this is your opportunity to grow and train members of the clan with the hope that one day, your Lts will earn the rank of captain and your squad will spilt, then when your clan grows and you have train replacements for your self you might earn the trust to build your own clan as a General

First thing you will need to do is recruit. We are looking for like-minded gamers people that we can be proud of that we will look forward to gaming with and who believe in the same values expressed in the honor code. And, when you find these potential members of your squad create activities, host practices to foster teamwork, and meet with them weekly.

Recommend recruits to become full members of your clan to your general.

Stuff to add somewhere?

What makes a person want to follow a leader? People want a guide by whom they respect and who has a clear sense of direction. Respect is earned, never given. A sense of direction is achieved by conveying a strong vision of the future.

XD = Xiled Division Leader
XC = Xiled Community Leader
XI = Xiled Council members

The leaders of XG make the decisions affecting Xiled Gaming as a whole. Council members are identified by an XI after their name.

Who can name some council members? XGC x0 0 7x XI, XGC BlkKnght XI, XGC xOTTOx XI, XGC HADES XI, XGC xVIPERx XI, XGC COLESLAW XI, XGC KNIGHT XI, and XGC CAVIEZEL XI XGCXTFLEMX XI
Can anyone name the 3 XI's that were promoted to the Rank? XGC xVIPERx XI, XGC xTFLEMx XI & XGC BlkKnght XI
Can anyone name the Two XIs who was recruited into XG? XGC xVIPERx XI, XGC xTFLEMx XI

1) Micro Managing

To micro manage your members is getting involved where you are not needed, doing peoples jobs for them, not giving people the freedom to succeed or fail on their own, and not holding members accountable for the members they are over. Give your members some responsibilities, see how they do and if they fail, talk to them about what could they have done differently. Ask for help on minor issues from your Lieutenant, let them run a squad meeting and practice. You are in the position you are to train future leaders, if you do their job for them they will never learn.

2) Don't be Petty

We are a gaming a community, you should not be solely worried about that next promotion. Leaders in this community are gamers that have taken on more responsibility. By only focusing on that next promotion you may keep others from succeeding. Some examples of being petty are: hoarding recruits to your squad instead of spreading them out to benefit the clan, holding your Lieutenant back from promotion because you don't want to train another one, or recruiting members that are not a fit for your division just to build numbers and try to move up.

Open for Questions...

--------- In closing.------------

We all work together to ensure two things happen in XGC, XDC, KoG, SYN, and XGG: to ensure it thrives and grows in a professional and organized manner, to establish and maintain a fun environment, free of trash talking and cheating. It would be impossible to ensure these two things happen, as we get bigger without training and trusting our leaders.
