SimBin, Swedish developer of the GTR PC racing simulation series, is working on a racing sim for the Xbox 360, to be published by Atari.

Race Pro will be powered by SimBin’s Lizard engine and promises precision physics, "ultra-realistic car models," and "a wealth of cars." Atari did not disclose how many cars will be in the game, but in a news release today, the publisher said Race Pro will include manufacturers like Aston Martin, Saleen, Audi R8, Alfa Romeo, BMW, Chevrolet, Seat and Dodge. Cars will range in power from 200 – 1000 horsepower.

Race Pro will include 13 real-life tracks, such as Laguna Seca, Road America, Macau, Porto and Pau. Racers will be able to compete in multiple championship series, including World Touring Car Championship, Formula 3000 and Formula BMW.

"Having personally taken the leap from 20 years of championship racing to racing simulation development, I am really excited for SimBin to be taking its own leap from PC to Xbox 360," said Henrik Roos, CEO, SimBin Studios AB. "We are proud to be taking this significant move with Atari, our trusted partner since our very first game."

The new racing sim will feature 12-player multiplayer both online with Xbox Live and via System Link. A ’Hot Seat’ lets players drive for a limited amount of time before passing the controller to the next player, and casual players can have a go at "Mini Cooper Challenge."

False rumors about publishing rights for SimBin’s upcoming console project hit the Web recently, forcing SimBin to issue a statement correcting the record. The missive is still on SimBin’s official site:

"We are issuing this statement to counter false rumours currently circulating on the internet regarding a new X360 game. We do have plans for an upcoming X360 game and an official announcement from Simbin will follow shortly with correct information on title and publisher. To clarify on a specific point, THQ is not the publisher of our upcoming X360 game. The information currently circulating is incorrect," said Magnus Ling, Vice President, Simbin Studios.

So there you have it. Race Pro is on the way from publisher Atari and is scheduled for a fall release exclusively on Xbox 360.
