The Bargain Bin
Now we all have walked by that bargain bin, and some of us walk on, but I implore you to look through! You can sometimes get a fun game for a low price!
This thread is for games (new or used) under $30. Find a game that is either really fun, or good for achievements? Or buy a game that you really regret and don't want anyone else to waste their money on? Post it HERE!
Heres my list:
Quake 4: $4.99 used.*
The achievements are majorily difficult, and would take a long amount of time.
The enemies are built poorly, and often are too powerful. Vehicles are a pain to drive and use, I had to repeat vehicle mission more than 10 times, on Normal. The story has its quirks, but its mostly bland, with extremely linear gameplay.
I would recommend NOT buying this game.
Shadowrun: $7.99 used.
The achievements aren't super-easy, but their all doable if you play the game on the side. Its pure multiplayer, with a new twist on the shooter, introducing magic and fantasy roles. There's a REALLY sharp learning curve to the game, and it can be aggravating.
If your looking for an easy 1k, I wouldn't buy, but just some multiplayer fun. this one is worth it.
Left 4 Dead: 26.99 used.
Some easy achievements, some hard. Fun gameplay, great versus mode. It really is a good way to load up your zombie slaying tank. A good buy.
Fable 2: 26.99 used.
An easy 900g in this game, and a fun story. A game that really will give more laughs than intense action, it was filled with fun and a great buy.
Call of Duty 3: 17.99 used
A difficult achievement setting, about 400g is easily doable. A fun campaign, if a bit difficult and short, I'd wait till the price drops some more before buying.
Unreal Tournament 3: 8.99 used
Some of the hardest achievements I've seen. A great multiplayer, but not many play it anymore. A fun campaign, but not very story driven. Not really worth it unless your a series fan.
Dead Space: $19.99 new (i think)
It's technically a thriller shooter. Tries out a ton of new aspects to games, such as ditching the reticle for aiming, and only using these laser sights. the problem is that the game came out feeling more like a low-end RPG than a thriller. Only 1-2 moments are truly scary, and the story was very bland. Combat was too simplistic, and using the inventory screens was annoying. About 5-600G is easily obtainable, the rest really would just take other playthroughs, which I couldn't stand to do. It's mildly entertaining, and if your persistent, 1000g is possible. I would call this game a "buy used, and return after your first playthrough to get your money back" If your achievement whoring, its a decent grab. A bit pricey for the monotony.
Not really a full achievements game: 1 MA3D A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB13S 1N 1T!!!!1! is only 80 ms points (1 USD) in the Xbox Live marketplace.
Only able to do same console multiplayer, its a two stick shooter (like Geo wars) and has the player running through some wacky area's fighting random things. From zombies, to amoebas.
Being an indie game, it has no official rating, and can be found under indie games, this one is cheap, and full of great laughs.
Halo Wars $29.99 new
This is a Real-Time Strategy game based in the Halo universe. With a good story, and hours and hours of gameplay, as well as a fun co-op. This one is a bit pricy, but well worth it for the Halo fan or RTS player. An easy 6-700G for anyone who tries hard and its not a half bad buy.
