In need of some assistance....

Rate this Entry
I have rescued a puppy and we are going thru the potty training stage, problem is little guy seems to have beaten a lot from the previous owner. So little Diesel cowers when he does anything. . .

Anyone have any suggestions on helping with my little Diesel. He is starting to understand that I'm not here to hurt him which is a great help.

Best thing you can do is approach him with ease if he does misbehave, but every time he listens or is good give him some sort of a small treat. Show him that doing good brings rewards. Praise and reward will help along with being cautious as to not instill any fear in him. Showing him love and compassion in reality is the best thing you can do even if he makes mistakes

Just make sure when you approach the dog you don't seem timid cuz they will pick up on that

Also when approaching the pup, speak softly or normal n if possible try to get lower to the ground...the size difference is very intimidating.

And definitely the tone you use makes a big difference.
