Alien Swarm.... IT'S FREE BUDDY!
Who here likes games that are free? Me too! Who here likes games with regular level production value, that are free? Even more of you hey?
Well then, have i got the game for you:
Alien Swarm.
This game is available 100% free of charge through Valves Steam service. All you need is a Steam account, which can be created 100% free as well.
So, now that you know how to get it, and that you dont need to waste any hard earned money to try it out, let get into some game details.
Alien Swarm is a top down shooter, similar play style to that of older RPGs like Diablo II, however it is a shoot 'em up game, so there isnt any spells or swords. At the begining of a match, you jump into a lobby with the other players (up to 4), and select your class (marine), and load-out. There are 4 clases, with 2 playable characters per class, which consist of Officers, Special Weapons, Medics, and Tech Marines. As one would imagine, the Officers give damage boosts and resistances, the Special Weapons class comes overly powered with huge clip machine guns, the Medic is the only class that can heal the other players, whicle being somewhat underpowered, and the Tech Marine is necesary for hacking through door-ways which are locked. All the classes play an important role, but the Tech Marine is required on almost EVERY map, and the Characters per class give different bonuses depending one who you choose to play as.
Once everybody picks a class, character and load-out, and of course, hit the ready button, you jump into the game. Now you work together as a team and attempt to shoot your way through the entire level without losing your squad, and letting the Tech Marine die. Most levels requrie a Tech Marine, and if you enter the level with just 1 of them, you MUST keep him alive, or the missions is a failure. Hordes of aliens, which come in a few simple varieties, and some more advance ones will Swarm after you wherever you go, so its a good idea to keep a tight formation and not let any member of your squad wander off by their lonesome.
As you go through the campaign, and beat levels, and get kills and achievements (Steam has achievements much like XBL does) you will level up, and unlock more choices for your load-outs, such as weapons and gadgets. The weapons you get to unlock shotguns, a plasma rifle and so on, and for gadgets you get damage multiplyer, double armour, and other great things to help you keep going on the game for harder settings and levels.
So now it is up to you. Go and download steam, and download this game, and let all your friends know about it! anybody wants a steam friend to play this with - hit me up Steam ID: uR_Elements
